Turismo de saúde no Cerrado: o papel das águas termais de Rio Quente e Caldas Novas no bem-estar da população e no desenvolvimento do segmento turístico em Goiás

Abstract

Este estudo aborda o turismo de saúde no Brasil, com ênfase no potencial das águas termais de Goiás, especificamente nas cidades de Caldas Novas e Rio Quente. O turismo de saúde tem se consolidado como uma alternativa viável para turistas que buscam tratamentos naturais e eficazes, sendo Goiás um dos principais destinos desse segmento devido às propriedades terapêuticas de suas águas minerais. O objetivo do trabalho é desenvolver um roteiro turístico que conecte a cidade de São Paulo a Caldas Novas e Rio Quente, promovendo essas localidades como destinos ideais para o turismo de saúde e bem-estar. Para isso, foram analisados os atrativos, a infraestrutura turística e as oportunidades de investimento, com foco especial no desenvolvimento e crescimento de Rio Quente como um destino de referência. Os resultados demonstram que o turismo termal na região oferece benefícios significativos para a saúde física e mental, além de contribuir para o desenvolvimento econômico local. A estrutura existente, que inclui parques aquáticos, spas e opções gastronômicas, possibilita uma experiência completa para os visitantes. No entanto, foi identificada a necessidade de investimentos em infraestrutura e divulgação para fortalecer a competitividade de Rio Quente no cenário nacional e internacional. Conclui-se que o turismo de saúde em Goiás tem grande potencial de crescimento, desde que associado a práticas sustentáveis e estratégias de marketing eficientes. Futuras pesquisas podem aprofundar a análise sobre os impactos econômicos e sociais do turismo termal na região e explorar novos mercados para atrair visitantes.

This study addresses health tourism in Brazil, emphasizing the potential of Goiás' thermal waters, specifically in the cities of Caldas Novas and Rio Quente. Health tourism has been consolidating as a viable alternative for tourists seeking natural and effective treatments, with Goiás being one of the main destinations in this segment due to the therapeutic properties of its mineral waters. The objective of this study is to develop a tourist itinerary connecting the city of São Paulo to Caldas Novas and Rio Quente, promoting these locations as ideal destinations for health and wellness tourism. To achieve this, attractions, tourism infrastructure, and investment opportunities were analyzed, with a special focus on the development and growth of Rio Quente as a reference destination. The results show that thermal tourism in the region offers significant benefits for physical and mental health, in addition to contributing to local economic development. The existing infrastructure, including water parks, spas, and gastronomic options, provides a complete experience for visitors. However, the need for investments in infrastructure and promotion was identified to strengthen Rio Quente’s competitiveness in the national and international landscape. It is concluded that health tourism in Goiás has great growth potential, provided it is associated with sustainable practices and efficient marketing strategies. Future research may deepen the analysis of the economic and social impacts of thermal tourism in the region and explore new markets to attract visitors.
