ABSTRACT The main objective of this article is to propose measures to improve urban mobility in the greater São Paulo, emphasizing the collective transportation service (bus), and sensitizing the population to the reduced use of the automobile. The system in question does not replace or eliminate any of the other modes, but its participation in population transport reduces individual transport by improving the quality of life, reducing pollution and congestion, as well as investment needs. The main focus of this work is to emphasize the importance of collective transportation with emphasis in the city of São Paulo. The methodology used is based on a large bibliographical review associated to the studies developed on the impact that this solution would cause in the improvement of pollution, congestion, accidents and costs for the city of São Paulo.
