The article analyzes available information in various sources about cybernetic attacks, their relations with account theft on digital platforms and it seeks to relate information security as a way to mitigate the occurrence of these incidents. Through acquired statistics, it was possible to ascertain that scan and fraud incidents were among the most recurring in Brazil in the year of 2025, with the brute-force attack and phishing subcategories being selected to be analyzed in more detail, in order to understand how they work and how they occur. From this, new research has shown that for users to avoid these incidents, the strengthening of the digital account security with strong password policies, activation of the two-step verification and the understanding of the phishing concept are essential elements for the users to prevent credential theft. In case of loss of access to the account, using methods of account recovery, as well as contacting the affected platform support are the best ways of proceeding with the access restoration. It is then considered that instructing the users on how to improve their defenses, as well as the explaining of concepts related to information security are some of the best ways of protecting them from possible digital incidents in the future.
