Abstract

A tecelagem, uma das atividades mais antigas da humanidade, desempenhou um papel crucial no desenvolvimento social, econômico e tecnológico das civilizações. Este estudo apresenta uma análise abrangente da história da tecelagem, desde suas origens na pré-história até a era da automação industrial, com foco na evolução dos teares e nas contribuições dos artesãos e tecelões. O objetivo geral deste trabalho é fornecer uma visão panorâmica da trajetória da tecelagem, destacando as transformações nos teares e a importância dos agentes humanos nesse processo. A metodologia utilizada consistiu em uma revisão bibliográfica abrangente, com a análise de livros, artigos científicos, teses e dissertações que abordam a história da tecelagem e a evolução dos teares. Os principais resultados obtidos revelam que a tecelagem evoluiu de uma prática manual rudimentar para uma indústria complexa e tecnologicamente avançada, impulsionada pela inovação contínua dos teares. Os artesãos e tecelões foram fundamentais nesse processo, adaptando técnicas tradicionais e incorporando novas tecnologias para aprimorar a produção têxtil. Conclui-se que a tecelagem é um patrimônio cultural e tecnológico da humanidade, e sua história demonstra a importância da inovação e da valorização do conhecimento tradicional para o progresso da sociedade.

Weaving, one of humanity's oldest activities, has played a crucial role in the social, economic, and technological development of civilizations. This study presents a comprehensive analysis of the history of weaving, from its prehistoric origins to the era of industrial automation, focusing on the evolution of looms and the contributions of artisans and weavers. The main objective of this work is to provide an overview of the trajectory of weaving, highlighting the transformations in looms and the importance of human agents in this process. The methodology used consisted of an extensive bibliographic review, analyzing books, scientific articles, theses, and dissertations addressing the history of weaving and the evolution of looms. The main findings reveal that weaving evolved from a rudimentary manual practice into a complex and technologically advanced industry, driven by the continuous innovation of looms. Artisans and weavers were fundamental in this process, adapting traditional techniques and incorporating new technologies to improve textile production. It is concluded that weaving is a cultural and technological heritage of humanity, and its history demonstrates the importance of innovation and the appreciation of traditional knowledge for the progress of society.
