Inteligência artificial restrita e geral: impactos sócio tecnológicos e desafios ambientais

Abstract

Este estudo visa clarear as diferenças cruciais entre a Inteligência Artificial restrita, atuando em tarefas específicas como reconhecimento facial ou sugestões de vídeos, e a Inteligência Artificial geral, que até o momento só existe no campo das ideias, mas visa imitar de maneira artificial o intelecto humano em praticamente tudo. Analisa-se também como essas tecnologias alteram o mercado de trabalho, substituindo pessoas em algumas funções, e como afetam o planeta, gastando muita energia e água para treinar as IAs generativas, como o GPT, por exemplo. Para encerrar, o artigo levanta uma discussão sobre a ética por trás do desenvolvimento dessas inteligências artificiais e fornecesse possíveis soluções de como amenizar os problemas que elas trazem, como usar energia limpa, desenvolver IAs mais “verdes” e criar leis e incentivos para conscientizar a todos

This study will explain the differences between restricted AI, which performs specific functions such as recognizing faces or giving video suggestions, and general AI, which is still in the field of ideas but seeks to imitate human intelligence in almost everything. It also looks at how these technologies are changing the job market, replacing people in some roles, and how they are affecting the planet, spending a lot of energy and water to train generative AIs, such as GPT. To close, the article raises a discussion about the ethics behind the development of these artificial intelligences and provides possible solutions on how to mitigate the problems they bring, such as using clean energy, developing “greener” AIs and creating laws and incentives to raise awareness
