Desenvolvimento de material educativo para incentivo a doação de leite humano

Abstract

A Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS) recomenda que o bebê seja alimentado exclusivamente com leite materno até o sexto mês de vida. Existem algumas situações em que o recém nascido não pode ser amamentado pela própria mãe. Visando reverter à diminuição do desmame precoce, em 1943 foi implantado o primeiro Banco de Leite Humano (BLH) no Brasil. O objetivo do BLH é de incentivar a doação de excedente da produção láctea, com intuito de atender os bebês que não podem receber o aleitamento direto de sua nutriz. O ato da doação do leite humano está fortemente vinculado ao ato da mulher amamentar e também à divulgação do BLH junto aos meios de comunicação. O objetivo deste trabalho foi desenvolver um material educativo para incentivar a doação de leite materno. Foi realizada revisão bibliográfica sobre aleitamento materno e BLH em livros e artigos científicos para elaboração de um folder orientativo para distribuição para gestantes. Para validação do folder foi feita pesquisa com onze gestantes, por meio de um questionário com perguntas sobre o conhecimento das mesmas sobre o BLH e se houve entendimento do folder desenvolvido. A doação de leite materno e BLH não é um assunto abordado com a devida importância durante o pré- natal e nos meios de comunicação, gerando o desconhecimento dos objetivos e a desmotivação do ato de doar. Faz-se necessário maior ação dos profissionais da saúde na prática de incentivo a doação de leite materno ao BLH.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that the baby be exclusively breastfed until the sixth month of life. There are some situations where the newborn cannot be breastfed by the mother. Aiming to reverse the reduction in early weaning, in 1943 the first Human Milk Bank (BLH) was established in Brazil. The objective of the BLH is to encourage the donation of excess milk production, in order to serve babies who cannot receive direct breastfeeding from their nursing mother. The act of donating human milk is strongly linked to the act of breastfeeding women and also to the dissemination of the HMB in the media. The objective of this work was to develop an educational material to encourage the donation of breast milk. A literature review on breastfeeding and HMB was carried out in books and scientific articles for the preparation of an orientation folder for distribution to pregnant women. To validate the folder, a survey was carried out with eleven pregnant women, through a questionnaire with questions about their knowledge about the HMB and whether there was an understanding of the folder developed. The donation of breast milk and HMB is not a subject approached with due importance during prenatal care and in the media, generating ignorance of the goals and discouragement of the act of donating. There is a need for greater action by health professionals in the practice of encouraging the donation of breast milk to the HMB.
