Looking in the mirror hits differently for girls and boys once school years begin. Bodies shift fast then - this changes how each view themselves. Not just parents shape these thoughts; sidewalks do too, along with flickering screens and endless online streams. What shows up in reflection ties closely to whether someone at home truly listens. Outside noise still drowns out quiet kindness more than most admit. Out here, shaping who you are gets shaken up hard just as everything nearby keeps shouting how things should be. These times twist every look in the mirror into something that actually shifts how a young person stands in the world. Looking at teens aged 15 to 18 from public schools, researchers explored body perceptions. In every instance, how they felt about their looks came up. Their view of themselves often bent by self-image, sometimes twisted. Social media played a part, tied tightly to personal reflection. Eating behaviors showed up too, if present, noted without judgment. Each time a meal pattern came up, exact notes got taken. When students moved their bodies, those actions entered review too. The data were organized into graphs to facilitate a better understanding of the results. The findings highlighted that many participants are not satisfied with their own bodies, even though the vast majority are at their ideal weight, mainly because the vast majority compare themselves to the beauty standards that the media and social media portray. The study also found that almost everything that family, friends, and other people say to these students greatly influences how they view their bodies. Finally, the study highlighted the importance of schools and families working together to help these adolescents develop a healthy body image, fostering self-esteem, fostering respect for differences, and valuing body diversity. The way these adolescents view their bodies remains a very important issue that, although it is not currently addressed, should be better addressed in the school setting, where educational and pedagogical initiatives are necessary to promote the physical and mental health and well-being of these adolescents.pt_BR
