O papel do Centro Cultural Matarazzo na formação da cidadania cultural no município de Presidente Prudente

Abstract

O presente estudo analisou o papel do Centro Cultural Matarazzo na formação da cidadania cultural no município de Presidente Prudente (SP), destacando sua relevância histórica, social, educativa e cultural. A metodologia teve abordagem qualitativa e natureza descritivo-exploratória, combinou revisão bibliográfica, análise documental e levantamento de informações sobre a programação cultural do espaço. O estudo partiu do pressuposto de que equipamentos culturais públicos, quando geridos de forma participativa e inclusiva, atuam como mediadores entre políticas culturais, educação e cidadania. Os resultados evidenciaram que o Centro Cultural Matarazzo se consolidou como importante espaço de democratização do acesso à cultura, oferecendo cursos, oficinas, exposições, mostras de cinema, festivais e ações voltadas a diferentes públicos. Constatou-se que sua estrutura multifuncional favorece a convivência, a valorização da memória histórica local e o fortalecimento do sentimento de pertencimento social. Conclui-se que o espaço desempenha papel estratégico na promoção da cidadania cultural prudentina, articulando memória, inclusão, educação e gestão de eventos culturais.

This study analyzed the role of the Matarazzo Cultural Center in the formation of cultural citizenship in the municipality of Presidente Prudente, São Paulo, highlighting its historical, social, educational, and cultural relevance. The research adopted a qualitative and descriptive-exploratory approach, combining literature review, document analysis, and a survey of information regarding the cultural programming of the space. The study was based on the assumption that public cultural facilities, when managed in a participatory and inclusive way, act as mediators between cultural policies, education, and citizenship. The results showed that the Matarazzo Cultural Center has established itself as an important space for democratizing access to culture, offering courses, workshops, exhibitions, film screenings, festivals, and activities aimed at different audiences. It was found that its multifunctional structure promotes social interaction, the appreciation of local historical memory, and the strengthening of the sense of social belonging. It is concluded that the space plays a strategic role in promoting cultural citizenship in Presidente Prudente, articulating memory, inclusion, education, and cultural event management.
