This study aimed to evaluate the mechanical and metallurgical properties of galvanized SAE 1005 steel subjected to the MIG-Brazing process, using the ER CuAl-A2 aluminum-bronze filler metal. Eight specimens were produced and subsequently characterized through macrographic analysis, destructive tests (tensile testing and Vickers microhardness), and non-destructive visual inspections. In the tensile tests, the welded samples exhibited an average maximum force of 3598.7 N, an average displacement of 7.3 mm, and an average fracture time of 86.3 s. Individual values ranged from 517.2 N to 7129.2 N, reflecting the influence of local joint conditions. The average elongation obtained was 0.73%, corresponding to the relative deformation at the moment of fracture. The Vickers microhardness (HV 0.05) revealed characteristic variations among the joint regions. The base metal presented average values between 148 and 164 HV; the fusion zone showed higher hardness, ranging from 164 to 200 HV; and the heat-affected zone recorded averages between 137.5 and 158 HV. These results reflect the thermal influence and the interaction between the CuAl-A2 filler metal and the galvanized steel. The chemical composition of the analyzed SAE 1005 sheets remained within the expected range for the material, presenting 0.05% to 0.10% C and 0.30% to 0.60% Mn.The MIG-Brazing process proved effective in preserving the zinc coating and ensuring adequate thermal control, resulting in joints with good structural integrity. Overall, the experimental data confirm that the use of MIG-Brazing on galvanized SAE 1005 steel is technically feasible, provided that strict control of operational parameters is maintained. |
