Estudo sobre como a melhora na infraestrutura pode aumentar a reprodução dos ovinos na unidade escolar Etec Dr. José Luiz Viana Coutinho, no município de Jales – SP

Abstract

O trabalho apresenta um estudo de caso que investiga como a melhoria da infraestrutura pode influenciar positivamente a reprodução de ovinos na Etec Dr. José Luiz Viana Coutinho, localizada em Jales SP. A pesquisa destaca que instalações adequadas contribuem para melhor manejo, bem-estar animal e aumento da produtividade, além de facilitar o trabalho dos tratadores e elevar o potencial econômico da criação. O projeto foi desenvolvido com base em pesquisa bibliográfica e coleta de informações com docentes e com o médico veterinário da instituição. Como proposta prática, foi planejada a reforma do barracão destinado aos ovinos, que possui 116,28 m² e abriga cinco fêmeas e um reprodutor da raça Dorper. A expectativa é alcançar de um a três cordeiros por fêmea em 150 dias, além de maior ganho de peso e padronização do rebanho. Entre as melhorias propostas estão: implantação de baias específicas, comedouros e bebedouros adequados, tronco de contenção para manejo seguro e construção de esterqueira, garantindo higiene e sustentabilidade no uso de dejetos. A planta baixa do novo aprisco foi elaborada considerando funcionalidade e conforto térmico. Conclui-se que uma infraestrutura eficiente pode elevar a qualidade de vida dos ovinos e favorecer maior rentabilidade, especialmente com a introdução de genética superior estimada com maior valor de comercialização. Apesar de o projeto ainda não ter sido executado, o estudo fornece base técnica viável para implementação futura na escola.

This work presents a case study investigating how infrastructure improvements can positively influence sheep reproduction at the Etec Dr. José Luiz Viana Coutinho, located in Jales, São Paulo. The research highlights that adequate facilities contribute to better management, animal welfare, and increased productivity, in addition to facilitating the work of handlers and raising the economic potential of the operation. The project was developed based on bibliographic research and information gathering from faculty and the institution's veterinarian. As a practical proposal, the renovation of the sheep shed, which has 116.28 m² and houses five ewes and one ram of the Dorper breed, was planned. The expectation is to achieve one to three lambs per ewe in 150 days, as well as greater weight gain and standardization of the flock. Among the proposed improvements are: the implementation of specific pens, appropriate feeders and waterers, a restraining chute for safe handling, and the construction of a manure pit, ensuring hygiene and sustainability in the use of waste. The floor plan of the new sheepfold was designed considering functionality and thermal comfort. It is concluded that an efficient infrastructure can improve the quality of life of sheep and promote greater profitability, especially with the introduction of superior genetics estimated to have a higher market value. Although the project has not yet been implemented, the study provides a viable technical basis for future implementation at the school.
