Abstract

O presente estudo aborda a evolução histórica da Segurança do Trabalho, analisando seu papel essencial na preservação da saúde e integridade física do trabalhador. O objetivo principal foi compreender como as legislações e normas regulamentadoras contribuíram para o desenvolvimento de práticas voltadas à prevenção de acidentes e doenças ocupacionais, além de destacar sua relação com a qualidade de vida e produtividade no ambiente laboral. A pesquisa evidencia que, apesar dos avanços legais e tecnológicos, o Brasil ainda enfrenta altos índices de acidentes de trabalho, sendo o quarto país no ranking mundial. Assim, reforça-se a importância de medidas preventivas, investimentos em equipamentos de proteção e conscientização dos trabalhadores. Conclui-se que a promoção de um ambiente seguro e saudável é fundamental não apenas para o bem-estar humano, mas também para a eficiência e sustentabilidade das organizações.

The present study addresses the historical evolution of Occupational Safety, analyzing its essential role in preserving the health and physical integrity of workers. The main objective was to understand how legislation and regulatory standards contributed to the development of practices aimed at the prevention of accidents and occupational diseases, in addition to highlighting their relationship with quality of life and productivity in the work environment. The survey shows that, despite legal and technological advances, Brazil still faces high rates of work accidents, being the fourth country in the world ranking. Thus, the importance of preventive measures, investments in protective equipment and awareness of workers is reinforced. It is concluded that the promotion of a safe and healthy environment is fundamental not only for human well-being, but also for the efficiency and sustainability of organizations.
