ABSTRACT The criminal liability of juvenile offenders is a highly relevant topic today, given the significant changes in Brazilian legislation over recent years. This study aims to provide clear, objective information on the subject, highlighting the importance of discussing juvenile criminal liability. The research addresses various issues, such as the historical evolution of criminal liability, the concepts of imputability and culpability, the socio-educational measures stipulated in the Statute of the Child and Adolescent (ECA, 1990), and the impact of these measures on the children and adolescents involved. Understanding current legislation and its implications plays a vital role in the pursuit of a fairer and safer society for all. This study employed descriptive research—specifically the bibliographic method—gathering necessary information from books, articles, theses, and other materials. We conclude that the approach must be balanced, seeking a form of justice that considers the protection of the minor's rights while also ensuring accountability for their actions; furthermore, investing in rehabilitation and prevention programs is crucial to preventing recidivism and facilitating the young person's reintegration into society.pt_BR
