Pressure injuries (PIs) represent an important public health problem, requiring technical knowledge for their identification, classification and proper management. During the supervised internship of the Nursing Technician course, it was observed that some students had difficulties in identifying stages II and III of PIs and in selecting the indicated dressings, justifying the conduct of this study. The objective was to evaluate the knowledge of Nursing Technician students regarding the identification, classification and management of pressure injuries, with emphasis on stages II and III. This is an exploratory study, with a hypothetical-deductive approach, with quantitative-qualitative analysis. The sample consisted of 91 students from ETEC Rodrigues de Abreu, distributed among the four modules of the course: 29 from the first module, 18 from the second, 23 from the third and 21 from the fourth module. The results demonstrated progressive evolution of knowledge throughout training, especially regarding the differentiation of injury stages, the importance of notification and the indication of dressings. However, weaknesses persisted in the description of injuries and in the selection of dressings in certain clinical situations. It is concluded that the hypothesis was partially confirmed, since, although the students showed advances in knowledge, they still presented relevant gaps in the identification and management of pressure injuries, evidencing the need to strengthen the teaching-learning process through the integration between theory and practice. |
