Implantação horta na Instituição São Vicente de Paulo de Jales.

Abstract

O trabalho apresenta um estudo de caso sobre a implantação de uma horta social no Instituto São Vicente de Paulo Lar dos Velhinhos de Jales/SP, desenvolvido pelas alunas da ETEC Dr. José Luiz Viana Coutinho. O projeto teve como objetivo geral implantar uma horta acessível, produtiva e terapêutica, promovendo a inclusão social e a melhoria na alimentação dos idosos residentes. A metodologia utilizada baseou-se em pesquisa bibliográfica e estudo de caso, com levantamento de informações junto à instituição, além de orientações técnicas dos professores. A área escolhida para a horta possui 21 m², dividida em quatro canteiros, com acessibilidade para cadeirantes e mobilidade reduzida. A revisão de literatura abordou temas como preparo do solo, adubação, irrigação, sombreamento e plantio, fundamentando teoricamente as etapas de execução. O desenvolvimento do projeto envolveu a participação ativa dos idosos em todas as fases desde a preparação do local até o cultivo e a manutenção, favorecendo o convívio social e o bem-estar emocional. Os resultados obtidos demonstraram que a horta contribuiu significativamente para o reaproveitamento de áreas ociosas, a sustentabilidade e a promoção de hábitos alimentares saudáveis. Conclui-se que o projeto atingiu seus objetivos, unindo conhecimento técnico, responsabilidade social e inclusão, além de fortalecer o vínculo entre a instituição e a comunidade escolar.

This paper presents a case study on the implementation of a social garden at the São Vicente de Paulo Institute – Lar dos Velhinhos de Jales/SP, developed by students from ETEC Dr. José Luiz Viana Coutinho. The project aimed to establish an accessible, productive, and therapeutic garden, promoting social inclusion and improving the diet of the elderly residents. The methodology was based on bibliographic research and a case study, including data collection at the institution and technical guidance from teachers. The garden area covers 21 m², divided into four garden beds designed for accessibility by wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility.The literature review addressed topics such as soil preparation, fertilization, irrigation, shading, and planting, which provided the theoretical foundation for the execution stages. The project’s development involved the active participation of the elderly in all phases — from site preparation to cultivation and maintenance — fostering social interaction and emotional well-being.The results showed that the garden significantly contributed to the reuse of idle areas, sustainability, and the promotion of healthy eating habits. It is concluded that the project achieved its objectives by integrating technical knowledge, social responsibility, and inclusion, while also strengthening the bond between the institution and the school community.
