A função da modelagem e da semiótica para a confecção de figurinos de teatro musical: estudo de caso: Epic: the Musical

Abstract

O presente artigo aborda a temática central de criação e confecção de figurinos para o nicho de teatro musical, questionando a importância de referencial semiótico para a produção de peças de vestuário que façam parte ativamente da narrativa desses espetáculos em questão. Será abordada também, a importância de modelagens pensadas para performances onde o corpo humano está em constante movimento. Esta pesquisa se justifica pela necessidade de entendimento de que o processo criativo de um figurinista vai muito além de escolhas estéticas, sendo na realidade, decisões tomadas em função simbólica para compor um espetáculo e ergonômica para o artista que o vestirá. Para compreender está temática, a pesquisa contará com referencial bibliográfico, que investigará desde o início do teatro, passando pela indumentária grega, a criação dos primeiros figurinos, explicando a base da semiótica e da modelagem pensada para artes performáticas, chegando assim na culminância deste trabalho, a produção de nove figurinos, idealizados para uma montagem de teatro da obra EPIC: The Musical, onde todo o referencial construído, será aplicado. This article addresses the central theme of costume design and production for the musical theater niche, questioning the importance of semiotic references in the creation of garments that actively contribute to the narrative of the performances in question. It will also discuss the importance of patternmaking designed for performances in which the human body is in constant movement. This research is justified by the need to understand that the creative process of a costume designer goes far beyond aesthetic choices, consisting instead of decisions made with both symbolic purposes to compose a performance and ergonomic purposes for the artist who will wear the costume. To understand this topic, the research will rely on bibliographic references that investigate the origins of theater, including Greek clothing traditions and the creation of the first costumes, while also explaining the foundations of semiotics and patternmaking designed for performing arts. This study ultimately culminates in the production of nine costumes conceived for a theatrical adaptation of EPIC: The Musical, in which all the theoretical references developed throughout the research will be applied.
