Os desafios das gestantes na carreira profissional do ABC Paulista

Abstract

Este trabalho fala sobre as dificuldades que as mulheres enfrentam quando estão grávidas e continuam trabalhando, especialmente na região do ABC Paulista. Para entender esse tema, primeiro é importante lembrar como foi a trajetória das mulheres no mercado de trabalho. Durante muito tempo, o papel feminino foi restrito ao lar, cuidando da casa e dos filhos, enquanto os homens eram responsáveis pelo sustento financeiro da família. Com as mudanças sociais, econômicas e culturais, as mulheres conquistaram espaço nas empresas, passaram a estudar mais, ocupar cargos de maior responsabilidade e participar de forma ativa na economia. Mesmo assim, essas conquistas não eliminaram todos os desafios. Muitas mulheres ainda enfrentam preconceito, desigualdade salarial, falta de reconhecimento e acúmulo de funções, já que continuam sendo, na maior parte do tempo, as principais responsáveis pelas tarefas domésticas. Quando engravidam, esses desafios aumentam, pois a gestante precisa lidar com mudanças físicas e emocionais, consultas médicas, limitações naturais da gestação e, ao mesmo tempo, cumprir metas e exigências profissionais muitas vezes rígidas. No ABC Paulista — uma região marcada por indústrias, ritmo acelerado e grande presença de trabalhadoras — essas dificuldades aparecem de forma ainda mais nítida. Por isso, este trabalho busca entender o que realmente acontece com essas mulheres durante a gravidez, quais direitos elas têm, se as empresas respeitam esses direitos e como elas se sentem nesse período tão importante.Ao final, o estudo mostra que apoiar a gestante não é apenas uma questão legal, mas sim humana. Quando as empresas oferecem acolhimento, flexibilidade e respeito, elas contribuem não só para a saúde da mulher e do bebê, mas também para um ambiente de trabalho mais justo, produtivo e saudável para todos.

This study discusses the difficulties faced by women who continue working while pregnant, especially in the ABC Paulista region. To understand this topic, it is important to look at the history of women in the workforce. For many years, women were expected to stay at home, taking care of the household and children, while men were responsible for providing the family’s income. Over time, with social, economic, and cultural changes, women gained space in the job market, pursued higher education, took on leadership roles, and became essential to economic growth. However, these achievements did not eliminate all obstacles. Many women still face prejudice, salary inequality, lack of recognition, and an overload of duties, since they often remain the main caretakers at home. When pregnancy occurs, these challenges become even greater, as pregnant women must deal with physical and emotional changes, medical appointments, and natural limitations of pregnancy, while still meeting deadlines, goals, and the expectations of a fast- paced work environment. In the ABC Paulista region — known for its industrial activity and high number of working women — these issues become even more visible. For that reason, this study aims to understand what pregnant workers truly experience, what their are, whether companies respect these rights, and how these women feel during this important stage of life. In the end, the study shows that supporting pregnant workers is not only a legal obligation but also a human one. When companies offer flexibility, empathy, and respect, they help protect the health and well-being of the mother and baby, while creating a more positive, productive, and fair work environment for everyone.
