O uso da madeira em fornos de cerâmica

Abstract

No Brasil, cerca de 55,5 milhões de m3 de madeira são usados como lenha industrial. Um dos mais tradicionais consumidores de lenha industrial é o segmento das cerâmicas vermelhas. O objetivo desse trabalho foi examinar o panorama atual da indústria cerâmica com relação ao uso e a procedência da madeira. Para tanto, foi realizada uma revisão bibliográfica, dando-se preferência a publicações recentes, mas na ausência destas, foram utilizadas também publicações mais antigas. A revisão mostrou que na indústria cerâmica a lenha é usada na etapa da queima ou sinterização da cerâmica. A energia térmica é necessária para dar dureza e resistência à cerâmica. Além da lenha, também são usados outros produtos derivados da madeira, como cavacos ou serragem. Nas regiões sul e sudeste, predominam o uso de madeira de reflorestamento e, nas regiões norte e nordeste, a maior parte da lenha é proveniente de vegetação nativa. Ocasionalmente, também, são usadas madeiras de espécies frutíferas, como goiabeira, mangueira, etc. Tem havido interesse do setor em tornar o uso da madeira sustentável e ambientalmente correto.Diversos projetos têm sido implementados por órgãos públicos e privados em parceria com o setor ceramista, com objetivo de melhorar a eficiência energética e tornar o uso da madeira sustentável e ambientalmente correto.

In Brazil, about 55.5 million m3 of wood is used as industrial firewood. One of the most traditional consumers of industrial firewood is the red ceramic segment. The objective of this work was to examine the current panorama of the ceramic industry in relation to the use and origin of wood. For this purpose, a bibliographic review was carried out, giving preference to recent publications, but in their absence, older publications were also used. The review showed that in the ceramic industry, firewood is used in the firing or sintering of ceramics. Thermal energy is necessary to give hardness and resistance to the ceramic. In addition to firewood, other products derived from wood are also used, such as chips or sawdust. In the south and southeast regions, the use of reforestation wood predominates and, in the north and northeast regions, most of the firewood comes from native vegetation. Occasionally, also, woods of fruit species are used, such as guava, mango, etc. There has been interest in the sector in making the use of wood sustainable and environmentally friendly. Several projects have been implemented by public and private bodies in partnership with the ceramics sector, with the objective of improving energy efficiency and making the use of wood sustainable and environmentally friendly.
