Abstract

Este estudo aprofunda o conceito de cultura de segurança nas organizações, ressaltando sua origem, evolução e papel fundamental na prevenção de acidentes e na promoção da saúde ocupacional. A cultura de segurança, termo introduzido pela Agência Internacional de Energia Atômica (AIEA) na investigação do desastre de Chernobyl, revela-se essencial para compreender como valores, atitudes e comportamentos influenciam a segurança no ambiente de trabalho. Com base no modelo teórico de Gonçalves Filho, Andrade e Marinho (2013), o trabalho destaca cinco fatores-chave para a maturidade da cultura de segurança: informação, comunicação, aprendizagem organizacional, comprometimento e envolvimento dos colaboradores. O fortalecimento desses elementos é crucial para consolidar práticas seguras e engajar os trabalhadores na construção de um ambiente organizacional seguro.

This study delves into the concept of safety culture within organizations, highlighting its origin, evolution, and fundamental role in accident prevention and the promotion of occupational health. Safety culture, a term introduced by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) during the investigation of the Chernobyl disaster, proves essential for understanding how values, attitudes, and behaviors influence workplace safety. Based on the theoretical model by Gonçalves Filho, Andrade and Marinho (2013), this work emphasizes five key factors for the maturity of safety culture: information, communication, organizational learning, commitment, and employee involvement. Strengthening these elements is crucial to consolidate safe practices and engage workers in building a safe organizational environment.
