Inteligência artificial na área da saúde: um estudo do Watson no tratamento do câncer

Abstract

Atualmente um dos temas que vem ganhando destaque é a Inteligência Artificial, que está presente no nosso cotidiano através das assistentes virtuais e também nas empresas. Este trabalho enfoca a IA na área da saúde, principalmente no tratamento do câncer, possuindo como objetivo analisar o funcionamento do Watson por meio de um estudo exploratório a fim de contribuir na compreensão e popularização desta tecnologia. Vale ressaltar que não foi encontrado na literatura um estudo aprofundado do funcionamento desta tecnologia, mostrando as vantagens e desafios que ela oferece, o que é relevante para pacientes que poderá utilizar e se beneficiar da mesma. A IA possui ferramentas cada vez mais sofisticadas, ajudando o paciente a manter sua saúde, e ajudando o profissional da área a elaborar laudos médicos com precisão. Este trabalho busca representar situações nas quais a inteligência artificial se mostra atuante na área da saúde, com enfoque no Watson, que é IA desenvolvida pela IBM, que hoje em dia auxilia vários profissionais no tratamento do câncer. A metodologia usada para o desenvolvimento desse trabalho é a pesquisa bibliográfica, que são consultados livros e artigos científicos para criar uma contextualização, além do levantamento de cenários e um estudo exploratório, mostrando o funcionamento e vantagens do Watson. Espera-se auxiliar os profissionais da saúde na orientação sobre os meios de usos atuais e futuros usos da inteligência artificial.

Currently, one of the themes that is gaining prominence is Artificial Intelligence, which is present in our daily lives through virtual assistants and also in companies. This work focuses on AI in the health area, mainly in cancer treatment, aiming to analyze the functioning of Watson through an exploratory study in order to contribute to the understanding and popularization of this technology. It is worth mentioning that an in-depth study of the functioning of this technology was not found in the literature, showing the advantages and challenges that it offers, which is relevant for patients who will be able to use and benefit from it. AI has increasingly sophisticated tools, helping the patient to maintain his health, and helping the professional in the area to prepare medical reports with precision. This work seeks to represent situations in which artificial intelligence is active in the health area, with a focus on Watson, which is AI developed by IBM, which nowadays assists several professionals in the treatment of cancer. The methodology used for the development of this work is bibliographic research, which consult books and scientific articles to create context, in addition to the survey of scenarios and an exploratory study, showing the functioning and advantages of Watson. It is expected to assist health professionals in guiding the means of current and future uses of artificial intelligence.
