Crossdocking operations in a carrier case study

Abstract

O tema desta pesquisa é a operação de cross-docking dentro da logística. O objetivo é estudar essas operações em um estudo de caso realizado na filial de uma empresa transportadora localizada em uma cidade do interior do estado de São Paulo. A metodologia foi a pesquisa bibliográfica seguida de estudo de caso com coleta de dados em uma empresa transportadora. Os resultados indicam que o processo de cross-docking, quando realizado corretamente, é de grande valia dentro da logística empresarial.

The management of processes and operations within logistics is essential to remain in the market, therefore the use of new management tools is necessary, and that will allow the company to remain in the market. With the constant growth of companies, and the advancement of technology, the ease of access to information is a strategy that organizations can use as a differential, and get out ahead of its competitors, and improve their costs. The objective of this work is to demonstrate the importance of logistics for organizations, especially with the help of information technology. A bibliographic review was used, by means of exploratory methods, such as research from books, scientific articles, academic papers, and specific websites. Thus, we conclude that logistics is of fundamental importance for companies to remain competitive in the market, improving their products and services. However, for this to occur, it is necessary that assertive and effective planning is done, translating not only into profits, but into a higher quality of these practices, so important in a supply chain.
