Sistema ferroviário: o Brasil na contramão do desenvolvimento

Abstract

A extensão das ferrovias brasileiras tem decaído ao longo de décadas, isso se deve à falta de investimento tanto para a construção de novas linhas como para a manutenção ou recuperação das já existentes. Comparado a outros países com grande extensão territorial, como por exemplo Estados Unidos, pode-se notar o quanto o Brasil caminha na direção oposta quanto ao desenvolvimento do transporte ferroviário. Para se entender melhor a situação desse tipo de transporte, é necessário um estudo dos reais motivos que o Brasil se encontra nessa situação e como uma melhor administração poderia recuperar o atual sistema ferroviário.

The extension of Brazilian railways has declined over decades, this is due to the lack of investment both for the construction of new lines and for the maintenance or recovery of the existing ones. Compared to other countries with great territorial extension, such as the United States, one can notice how far Brazil is going in the opposite direction as regards the development of rail transport. To better understand the situation of this type of transport, it is necessary to study the real reasons why Brazil is in this situation and how a better administration could recover the current railway system.
