A tecnologia ORC e a sua contribuição na eficiência operacional dos armadores que atuam no Porto de Santos

Abstract

A crescente demanda pelo uso de novas tecnologias tem sido um dos fatores que mais movimentam a indústria, seja ela nacional ou internacional. No panorama da movimentação de cargas e atividades exercidas nos portos ao redor no mundo, nota-se um grande investimento para acompanhar essa evolução. A partir disso, este estudo tem como objetivo geral identificar se a tecnologia de reconhecimento óptico de caracteres (OCR) contribui na eficiência operacional dos armadores que atuam no Porto de Santos. Além disso, como objetivos específicos foram definidos: verificar a aplicação da tecnologia OCR nas atividades das empresas que integram o estudo; identificar, junto às empresas pesquisadas, os benefícios percebidos com o uso dessa tecnologia; e investigar os critérios que definem a eficiência operacional das empresas participantes do estudo. A pesquisa classifica-se como um estudo de caso, fazendo uso do método qualitativo, sendo a coleta de dados realizada por meio de entrevistas orientadas com base em um roteiro predefinido. Com o resultado pode-se atestar a contribuição da tecnologia OCR para a eficiência operacional dos respondentes da pesquisa.

The growing demand for the use of new technologies has been one of the factors driving industry, whether national or international. In the panorama of cargo handling and activities carried out in ports around the world, there has been a great deal of investment to keep up with this evolution. The general aim of this study is to identify whether optical character recognition (OCR) technology contributes to the operational efficiency of carriers operating in the Port of Santos. In addition, the specific objectives were: to verify the application of OCR technology in the activities of the companies included in the study; to identify, with the companies surveyed, the perceived benefits of using this technology; and to investigate the criteria that define the operational efficiency of the companies participating in the study. The research is classified as a case study, using the qualitative method, and data was collected through interviews based on a predefined script. The results show that OCR technology contributes to the operational efficiency of the survey respondents.
