Infecções no trato urinário (ITU) em enfermaria feminina

Abstract

As infecções do trato urinário (ITU) representam um desafio significativo em enfermarias femininas, especialmente em pacientes que utilizam sonda vesical de demora (SVD). O objetivo deste trabalho é investigar a relação entre a assistência de enfermagem, quando não segue os protocolos de prevenção, e o aumento dessas infecções. O estudo propõe analisar as práticas de enfermagem e sua conexão com a proliferação de infecções urinárias em pacientes internados, enfatizando a importância das precauções padrão para a prevenção de infecções hospitalares. As precauções padrão atualmente em uso são revisadas, buscando estabelecer diretrizes que minimizem os riscos de contaminação cruzada na assistência de enfermagem. A questão central da pesquisa busca determinar se a assistência de enfermagem, sem a devida adoção dos protocolos de prevenção, contribui para o aumento de infecções urinárias em pacientes com SVD em enfermarias femininas.

Urinary tract infections represent a significant challenge in female wards, especially among patients using indwelling urinary catheters (IUCs). This study aims to understand whether nursing care, when performed without infection prevention protocols, is directly linked to the increase in these infections. The study proposes to investigate nursing practices and their relationship with the proliferation of urinary tract infections in hospitalized patients, highlighting the importance of standard precautions for the prevention of hospital infections. The standard precautions currently in use are reviewed, seeking to establish guidelines that minimize the risks of cross-contamination in nursing care. The research question seeks to identify whether nursing care, without the proper adoption of prevention protocols, contributes to the increase in urinary tract infections in patients with IUCs in female wards.
