Terminologia técnica em inglês na área de logística

Abstract

Visando analisar o uso da terminologia técnica em inglês na área de logística em empresas, foi realizada uma pesquisa qualitativa, através de um questionário enviado à empresa Big Poc. Por ser uma empresa cuja atuação é restritivamente nacional, a empresa em questão não faz uso da língua inglesa em nenhum outro aspecto, além do uso de expressões específicas do vocabulário técnico. Os resultados da pesquisa demonstraram que a maioria dos entrevistados afirmam ter contato frequente com termos em inglês em sua rotina de trabalho, porém, em contrapartida, a grande maioria também apontou que já houve casos em que se depararam com algum termo cuja definição era desconhecida por eles. Levando em conta os dados coletados, entende-se que a melhor forma de sanar possíveis dúvidas em relação a esses termos em inglês seria através de um glossário onde estariam reunidos o vocabulário logístico mais comumente utilizado na empresa para que os funcionários consultassem de maneira prática.

Intending to analyze the use of technical terminology in English in the logistic area of corporations, a qualitative research was carried out, through a quiz that was sent to Big Poc Company. Since the company operates on national territory only, the employees do not use the English language in any other aspect, besides the specific expressions in the technical vocabulary. The research results show that the majority of the respondents claim that they frequently use English terms throughout their work routine, but, on the other hand, most of them also pointed that there were situations on which they have come across words with an unknown definition. Considering the data that was collected, it is understood that the best way to deal with possible doubts about the English technical words would be throughout a glossary, which would gather the most used logistic vocabulary commonly seen at companies, so that the employees can easily consult.
