The Peruvian maca, scientifically known as lipidium meyenni is a herbaceous native to Peru, from the Andes Region, and can also be found in other countries such as Argentina, Colombia, Bolivia and Chile, with different colors ranging from yellow to black. To this end, a literature review was carried out covering the history of the Peruvian maca, its chemical and biological constituents that favor the increase in libido. Together with a study on female sexual dysfunction, which is defined as pain associated with sexual intercourse or a disorder in the sexual response cycle, directly interfering with the quality of life of women and their interpersonal relationships. The use of medicinal plants as an alternative for disease treatments has existed since prehistory, since the majority of the population does not have the means to acquire high-cost drugs or because of the advantage / benefit, due to the fact that such plants carry less harm than industrialized medicines. It was observed that the use of Peruvian stretcher is a viable option and can assist in restoring a healthy sex life for the affected women.
