A importância da moldeira individual para prótese total e como confeccioná-la de forma convencional e digital

Abstract

O objetivo deste trabalho é destacar a importância da moldeira individual, confeccionada de forma convencional, em resina acrílica, e digital, para a prótese total. A moldeira individual representa uma etapa essencial no processo de moldagem funcional, pois permite obter um registro mais preciso das estruturas bucais, garantindo melhor adaptação, conforto e retenção da prótese total. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida por meio de referências bibliográficas, artigos científicos, vídeos educativos e análises comparativas entre as técnicas de confecção, abordando suas vantagens, limitações e indicações clínicas. Na técnica convencional, a moldeira individual é confeccionada manualmente a partir do modelo de gesso e da resina acrílica. Já no método digital, utilizam-se o escaneamento intraoral e softwares tridimensionais para a confecção de moldeiras impressas em 3D ou fresadas. Os resultados evidenciam que ambas as técnicas proporcionam resultados satisfatórios; contudo, o método digital apresenta maior precisão e redução do tempo de confecção. Apesar disso, o custo elevado ainda limita sua ampla utilização, mantendo o método convencional como uma alternativa acessível e eficaz. O estudo também aborda o impacto da moldeira individual no sucesso da prótese total, visto que ela é responsável por garantir maior precisão nas moldagens e melhor adaptação da prótese às estruturas anatômicas do paciente. Por meio de uma moldagem personalizada, é possível reproduzir fielmente as características da área basal, proporcionando conforto, estabilidade, retenção e estética satisfatória ao paciente reabilitado. Conclui-se que a confecção e o uso adequado da moldeira individual são determinantes para o sucesso funcional da prótese total e estético, contribuindo para a longevidade e eficiência do tratamento.

The objective of this work is to highlight the importance of the individual impression tray, conventionally made of acrylic resin, and digitally, for complete dentures. The individual impression tray represents an essential step in the functional impression process, as it allows for a more precise record of the oral structures, ensuring better adaptation, comfort, and retention of the complete denture.

The research was developed through bibliographic references, scientific articles, educational videos, and comparative analyses between the manufacturing techniques, addressing their advantages, limitations, and clinical indications. In the conventional technique, the individual impression tray is manually made from the plaster model and acrylic resin. In the digital method, intraoral scanning and three-dimensional software are used to manufacture 3D printed or milled impression trays.

The results show that both techniques provide satisfactory results; however, the digital method presents greater precision and reduced manufacturing time. Despite this, the high cost still limits its widespread use, keeping the conventional method as an accessible and effective alternative. The study also addresses the impact of the individual impression tray on the success of the complete denture, since it is responsible for ensuring greater precision in the impressions and better adaptation of the prosthesis to the patient's anatomical structures. Through a personalized impression, it is possible to faithfully reproduce the characteristics of the basal area, providing comfort, stability, retention and satisfactory aesthetics to the rehabilitated patient.

It is concluded that the fabrication and proper use of the individual impression tray are crucial for the functional and aesthetic success of the complete denture, contributing to the longevity and efficiency of the treatment.
