Vantagens do Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) para Empresas do Setor Sucroenergético

Abstract

Este estudo de caso foi realizado da análise do relatório de sustentabilidade e da entrevista com o presidente de uma empresa do setor sucroenergético da região de Ribeirão Preto. Esclarece o funcionamento, os desafios encontrados e as vantagens obtidas por uma empresa do setor sucroenergético ao aderir à Global Reporting Initiative. Dentre os benefícios da adesão ao Global Reporting Initiative está à integração dos sistemas operacionais, a avaliação de desempenho da empresa frente às normas, leis, códigos, padrões e iniciativas voluntárias e a comparação de desempenho dentro da organização e entre organizações diferentes. Outro fator relevante é a disseminação da importância da sustentabilidade, juntamente com a melhoria na interação da empresa e as partes interessadas (“stakeholders”).

This case study through analysis of the sustainability report and interview with the president of a company in the sugarcane industry in the region of Ribeirão Preto, clarifies the operation, the challenges encountered and the benefit obtained by a company in this sector to join the Global Reporting Initiative - GRI. Among the benefits of joining the GRI is the integration of operating systems, performance evaluation of the company in the rules, laws, codes, standards and voluntary initiatives and the comparison of performance within the organization and between different organizations. Another relevant factor is the spread of the importance of sustainability to the observed improvement in the company's interaction with stakeholders.
