O potencial dos brechós na moda sustentável

Abstract

O aumento dos impactos ambientais gerados pela indústria da moda, especialmente o descarte excessivo de resíduos têxteis, tem incentivado a busca por alternativas mais sustentáveis. Sendo assim, os brechós se destacam como uma opção viável para reduzir o desperdício e promover o consumo consciente. Este trabalho, portanto, visa analisar o papel dos brechós na promoção da moda sustentável e na mitigação dos impactos ambientais causados pela indústria têxtil, com foco no município de Itapetininga-SP. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida por meio de uma revisão bibliográfica sobre os impactos da indústria têxtil, além de entrevistas com donos de brechós no município e a aplicação de questionários aos consumidores. Os resultados evidenciam a importância dos brechós na reutilização de roupas, estendendo seu ciclo de vida útil e reduzindo significativamente o volume de resíduos têxteis descartados precocemente. Conclui-se que os brechós são uma alternativa eficaz para diminuir o consumo de novos recursos naturais, contribuindo para uma economia circular e uma moda mais responsável e sustentável.

The increasing environmental impacts generated by the fashion industry, especially the excessive disposal of textile waste, has encouraged the search for more sustainable alternatives. Therefore, thrift stores stand out as a viable option to reduce waste and promote conscious consumption.

This work, therefore, aims to analyze the role of thrift stores in promoting sustainable fashion and mitigating the environmental impacts caused by the textile industry, focusing on the municipality of Itapetininga-SP. The research was developed through a bibliographic review on the impacts of the textile industry, as well as interviews with thrift store owners in the municipality and the application of questionnaires to consumers. The results highlight the importance of thrift stores in the reuse of clothing, extending its useful life cycle and significantly reducing the volume of textile waste discarded prematurely. It is concluded that thrift stores are an effective alternative to reduce the consumption of new natural resources, contributing to a circular economy and a more responsible and sustainable fashion industry.
