Implantação do conceito free range em aves caipiras

Abstract

O propósito deste trabalho é apresentar o projeto Free Range (galinhas livres) em uma escola técnica agropecuária, que consiste em um sistema livre de gaiolas, as aves são criadas soltas em galpões e com acesso ao pasto, sendo assim um ambiente saudável e natural para as galinhas, podendo expressar seus comportamentos naturais tais como ciscar, tomar banho de areia, comer insetos, exercitar e socializar tendo uma melhor qualidade de vida. O estudo centra-se na necessidade do Bem-estar animal onde atualmente a sociedade de maneira geral tem procurado saber. Para atingir os objetivos do proposto teve as seguintes etapas. Foi realizado o processo de incubação dos ovos doados e logo após o nascimento e crescimento delas, logo após, foram colocadas no viveiro para o crescimento e adaptação, para logo após irem para o galpão. Realizou-se a higienização do local sendo retirado entulhos, resíduos e utilizado a vassoura de fogo, logo após, resultou-se na reforma do galinheiro, que incluiu a reparação do portão, pintura e restauração dos sistemas de água e energia, separamos o pasto com mourões e instalamos cerca e uma pequena horta e adicionamos cama, ninhos e poleiros. Os resultados mostram que as aves se adaptaram bem ao galpão, a nutrição da horta e ao pasto. Foi concluído que o sistema Free Range traz uma melhor qualidade de vida aos animais. Assim tendo uma produtividade melhor, livre de estresse e com espaço para expressar seus comportamentos naturais.

The objective of this study is to introduce the Free Range project, which focuses on the rearing of free-range chickens at a technical agricultural school. This initiative employs a cage-free system, allowing the birds to thrive in spacious barns with access to outdoor pastures. Such an environment promotes the health and well-being of the chickens, enabling them to engage in natural behaviors such as scratching, dust bathing, foraging for insects, exercising, and social interaction, thereby enhancing their overall quality of life. The research emphasizes the importance of animal welfare, a topic that is gaining significant attention in contemporary society. To accomplish the outlined goals, several steps were undertaken: initially, donated eggs were incubated, leading to the hatching and subsequent growth of the chicks. They were then transferred to a nursery to facilitate further growth and acclimatization before being moved to the barn. The premises were thoroughly cleaned to eliminate debris and waste, utilizing a fire broom for sanitation purposes. This process included renovations to the chicken coop, which involved repairing the gate, painting, and restoring the water and electricity systems. Additionally, pasture areas were enclosed with fencing, and a small garden was established, complete with bedding, nesting boxes, and perches. The findings indicate that the birds adapted successfully to their new environment, including the barn, garden, and pasture. It was determined that the Free Range system significantly enhances the quality of life for the animals, resulting in increased productivity, lower stress levels, and sufficient space for the expression of their natural behaviors.
