Abstract

O uso da Internet no ensino superior não é recente. Aliás, a própria origem dela está diretamente ligada ao meio acadêmico. Atualmente o seu uso tem sido difundido largamente em vários ramos da sociedade. E na educação não poderia ser diferente. Os mais variados recursos da rede, como hipertexto, correio eletrônico, conversas em tempo real, listas de discussão, entre outros, têm sido responsáveis pela possibilidade de quebra de barreiras físicas e geográficas, pois permite que, de qualquer lugar do mundo, se tenha acesso às mais diversas informações, pessoas e instituições. Além disso, a rede tem contribuído para a difusão de uma nova concepção de ensino: o Ensino a Distância. E tendo uma ferramenta tão poderosa nas mãos, só resta a alunos e professores utilizá-la da melhor forma.

The use of Internet in higher education is not recent. By the way, its own origin is directly linked to the academic life. Nowadays Internet has been spread to many levels of society. it could not be different in education. The most different resources of Internet, like hypertext, electronic mail, chats, e-groups, among many others, have been responsible to the possible ruptures of physical and geographical barriers, as it allows that from every part of the world, we have access to a lot of different information, people and places. Besides, Internet has contributed to the spread of a new concept of education - Long Distance Education. And with such a powerful tool in hands, the only way to students and teachers is the use of Internet in the best possible way.
