Nanociencia e nanotecnologia: a revolução atômica

Abstract

A nanotecnologia manipula a matéria na escala atômica para criar estruturas com uma organização molecular diferenciada. Por atuar com uma escala reduzida esta tecnologia pode sintetizar a matéria da forma que for mais adequada à utilização que se espera. Modifica-se o arranjo de átomos e moléculas visando-se um produto final mais resistente, mais barato, mais leve, mais preciso e mais adequado. Por permitir o controle da estrutura atômica da matéria, a nanotecnologia tem o potencial de revolucionar o modo em que materiais e produtos serão criados, além de possibilitar novas utilizações nunca antes imaginadas. Todos os organismos possuem nanomáquinas extremamente complexas e especializadas: células que se reproduzem, enzimas que catalisam reações químicas, anticorpos que combatem doenças. A nanotecnologia é a extensão natural do conhecimento humano que procura dominar as peças fundamentais da matéria e desta forma, controlar suas características.

For allowing the control of the atomic structure of the substance, the nanotechnology has the potential to revolutionize the way where material and products will be servant, besides making possible new uses never before imagined. The nanotechnology is the natural extension of the human knowledge that it looks to dominate the basic parts of the substance and this form, to control its characteristics.
