Cultura e juventudes nos espaços públicos: a experiência do SLAM

Abstract

O Slam é uma ação poética e verbal que sofreu grande influência do movimento hip-hop. O Slam é um evento cultural propulsor de transformações sociais tendo os jovens urbanos e periféricos como protagonistas. O artigo apresenta um conhecimento inicial sobre o Slam nos Estados Unidos e no Brasil contextualizando seu surgimento e especificidades considerando a experiência em contextos urbanos, especialmente em uma cidade do interior do Estado de São Paulo. O objetivo do estudo é apresentar e analisar o potencial do Slam como fator de expressão de juventudes urbanas, apontando caminhos para inserção sociocultural e educacional dos jovens. A pesquisa é de caráter bibliográfico e empírico a partir da imersão dos autores nessa prática cultural e educativa.

Slam is a poetic and verbal action that was greatly influenced by the hip-hop movement. The Slam is a cultural event that promotes social transformations with urban and peripheral youth as protagonists. The article presents an initial knowledge about Slam in the United States and Brazil, contextualizing its emergence and specificities considering the experience in urban contexts, especially in a city in the interior of the State of São Paulo. The objective of the study is to present and analyze the potential of Slam as a factor of expression for urban youth, pointing out ways for the sociocultural and educational insertion of young people. The research is bibliographical and empirical in nature based on the immersion of the authors in this cultural and educational practice
